About my Art

The Artist KAROLINE WINTER
In their quest for meaning and concrete answers to their existence, individuals have always manifested the need for a “religion-less” spirituality, which is not necessarily linked to a “religious God”. An internal spirituality which is introspective research, and recovery of the sacredness and the mystery. Hence, Karoline Winter’s painting is an evolved work, as it is able, through mastery of the technique and a skillful modulation of light and colour, to reach valuable concepts of analysis, synthesis and logic on the invisible structure of the Universe. Winter is a seeker of the divine who, through her art, is able to externalise the subtle link between the invisible cosmos and the material physicality of its elements. Hence, art can become a medium for spiritual reconciliation, as it is able to overcome the natural limits through transcendency and its vital energy. The result of the union of sentiment, thought and action, which is able to reach beyond darkness and everything that it stands for: the immanent, the material, the finite.

We’re in front of a painting that becomes a means for elevation and aesthetic intuition, inviting to contemplation as essential and founding element in the communion with the supernatural. It is a pictorial language which is able to move away from the terrestrial materiality, to the enchantment of the mystery: images and shapes of rare poetry, fed by a mystical seduction and sublime tones which are almost lulled by elegant reflections and hues. Her whole production is permeated by recalling of the Shintoist religion, where the concept of sacredness is represented by nature itself, and where each element of the Creation becomes the highest expression of the divine, and it expresses one of the ways to reach the contemplation of the intangible and the perception of the sacred dimension of the Universe. In front of works of such huge visual and emotional impact, charged with spirituality and noble lyricism, the observer senses the infinite greatness of the soul, and feels how time and space are treated by the artist as uncatchable entities, where all chaos becomes order.

Hence, her painting celebrates the importance of contemplation as an element that brings within an essential process of interiorization, of regressing to the origins as a subjective experience, which allows the individual to go from the intimacy to the mystery of existence. Karoline Winter’s pictorial language tries to externalise the ineffable grandiosity of the Universe, to discover what’s beyond the logical schemes, in order to reach a new cognitive realism. The contemplative dimension is manifested in its essential importance to the pictorial act, and recalls the ancient platonic pre-concepts, based on the fact that it is the highest moment of existence, as drawing from ideas (archetypes of the sensitive world) poses man in proximity to his origin. Each painting is able to find its own private space and to express, in an intimate way, the deepest contact with Creation and the underlying strata of the universe, which hide energetic dimensions that only a sensitive soul can touch. Winter’s pictorial method combines technique and spiritual practice, acting as mediator between ordinary world and intangible world, with the intent to re-establish balance and harmony, and connecting the individual with other levels of existence. In each of her artworks we find that quest for spirituality as individual and solitary path, which has to stem exclusively from one’s own interiority, and communicates her intimate research, intended as analysis of what binds us with the infinite and the divine side that’s in us.

About my Art

The Artist KAROLINE WINTER
The contemplation art of Karoline
Winter Only at first glance, we can perceive the strong energy and deep power that the works of art of the contemporary artist Karoline Winter release. Mostly golden or with warm colors, they conceal and reveal at the same time celestial and parallel worlds of which we human beings are an integral part. Conceiving man not as pure matter but as a natural being, divine and
vibrant energy, a microcosm within a vast universe, Karoline Winter uses painting to
rediscover this energy and to make man aware of his immense value and power, awareness increasingly weaker nowadays due to the continuous search for material well-being with the consequent distance from one’s spirit and self. As the artist says, „We do not live in nature, we ourselves are nature: everything is vibration and penetrates to the highest welfare and perfection!“.
Through her magical capacity for vision, the goal that Karoline sets herself is therefore to awaken human potential and dig into the depth of the soul of each of us, to make us aware of the energy we are made of and making it understandable to our eyes and spirit: only in
this way can we rediscover our own self and soul and become free. Thanks to many years of spirituality, contemplation and understanding of things, the artist in fact managed to reach a state of connection with the reality that surrounds her through a non-material vision of things acquired from life experiences that allows her to see beyond pure matter. For this reason, she can be called a mediator between worlds, the light-filled spiritual world of angels and our level of consciousness, so that she coined the term contemplation art as a
reference to this power of cognition.
Making use of this great magical power and spiritual strength, the artist’s goal is to bring light on the reality around us because everything for her is endowed with light and love, we just need to rediscover it: only through the understanding and awareness of what surrounds
us, we can reach the truth and therefore the healing of oneself and one’s soul. Karoline’s art is a real journey to discover and rediscover one’s self, a deep process inside ourselves.
Karoline’s works can be traced back to visions, the result of her own intuitions and dreams:
like interior images that preserve wisdom and pour onto the canvas, they present recurring symbols and figures that are reworked from work to work.

About my Art

In „Compass of the Heart“, „Sound of Silence” and „Diamond of soul“, for example, the circle is repeated almost schematically but with always different solutions. The warm and vibrant colors contribute to making the works of light bursts, giving them a sense of magic and energy that almost suck the viewer into their vortex to lead him on a journey to discover his own self. Every detail is enhanced, honored and made brighter, thanks also to the use of the golden leaf that Karoline often uses in her works to make the sense of energy contained in the canvases even more. Going beyond the vision of pure appearance, the circle is
identifiable with our deepest being, the heart or soul as it can be defined, and Karoline, through her painting, makes them energy centers that release strength and power, capturing the viewer’s attention in order to lead him to the center of his own self.
Other experimented subjects of the artist are women faces: more colorful and lively than the „series of circles“, these faces, always with different solutions, have the aim of paying homage to the Nature that generates us and of which we are part, through the personification
of the woman with Mother Earth.

In “The Wings of Soul” for example, a woman with a strong and magnetic gaze looks straight at us, capturing our attention and almost inviting us to enter the painting. Wrapped in various types of flowers and bird feathers, the woman strongly expresses the power of
Nature which, with her blue eyes like rubies, invites us not to forget our origin and our source of purity.
Likewise, „Awakening“ and „Love Mother Earth“ depict a woman’s face against a bright background from which colorful flowers and birds emerge, resulting in an extremely serene and peaceful outcome. The works, which seem to be a representation of spring, are a
profound reflection on nature and life: when Karoline wondered who she is when
everything collapses, she understood in deep contemplation that we are not separate. That everything is alive. All dramas, all fears are illusions that Vertand creates, because in nature there is always peace. When we create peace within ourselves, it brightens this beautiful
world. „Awakening“ and “Love Mother Earth” are therefore an invitation to wake up and understand who we really are in our deep essence.
On the other hand, the woman of “Inner peace. Meditation” is looking down, seeming wrapped in her thoughts in a dreamy but peaceful state. With more muted and suffused colors, Karoline restores the image of bliss, a state of inner well-being and therefore ofpeace with the world, which is the goal she aspires to bring to everyone through her works. Karoline Winter’s art is therefore a real mission: making use of images and visions that are
part of her own mind and derived from her personal experience, she mediates two worlds, the material and the spiritual, that of awareness and unawareness, inviting the viewer to become conscious of his immense human potential and the vibrant energy of which he is made, through her extraordinary ability to create strong and powerful works, despite the
warm and suffused tones, which reach straight to the soul.
